I love and adore the color purple. I have a purple motorcycle. I have purple Ariat Fat Baby boots with bling. I always wanted a purple bedroom. I got one. Now what do I do? Paint it beige! That will be one of my next projects. My goal in this design was to create Jeannie’s Bottle! Remember I Dream of Jeannie? That’s what I was going for. Purple with red and gold accents – like gems. And splashes of animal prints. I LOVE the purple. I LOVE that it is actually a very calming color. The Chinese say that purple is the most auspicious color. Of course, they also say that red is THE most auspicious color, but then they sometimes describe a red color as “so auspicious that it is purple.” Go figure. All I know is that I love it, but I am planning to put the house on the market and purple will be very limiting. I will post some more before and after and then after again photos. The after again photos will be a little while in coming since I haven’t even started on that yet. ![]() Before – Main area and bathroom door. ![]() After – main area and bathroom door. ![]() Before – nook area. Note the “building” in the window. That’s a pig roof over the hot tub! ![]() During – nook walls are primed and ready to paint. Purple is such a hard color to get exactly right. I tried several different colors until I got just what I wanted. ![]() After – I love the colors! But the room will have to be neutral for the market. A note about my art. Yes, it’s a little weird. It’s a dead lady tied up and floating in water. Please note the halo. She’s a martyr. I fell instantly in love with this upon first sight. I bought it and then debated about using it. Why? Because OTHER people thought it was weird. OTHER people don’t share my bedroom, so up it went! I still love it. It’s actually a sort of famous piece by Paul Delaroche, titled La Jeune Martyre – The Young Martyr (1853). |
